Q. How long does it take to get a copy of a patent file wrapper?
A. Patent File Wrappers are obtained from the United States Patent Office Warehouse Facility. With over 6 + million patents issued to date, as you might imagine that the warehouse is quite large. It will take approximately a few days for us to get the files from the Patent Office and copy the file. We will copy and send the files the same day we receive them from the United States Patent Office Warehouse. We are the quickest service available.
Q. Are the related applications that are mentioned on the front face of the patent part of the file wrapper that I would receive?
A. Issued patents sometimes have related application information. Typically, the related patent application information is listed on the front page of an issued patent. Sometimes not all related applications are part of the specific file you are are trying to obtain. Sometimes an application file may be a separate file. If you wish to obtain all the information related to a specific patent and its related patent family information, it would be best to let us know that you also need the related application information. Our researcher will verify either that the file information is with the current file or a separate file needs to be requested. If a separate file needs to be requested, we will do so and copy that file as well for you.
